Hair loss isn’t life-threatening.It’s identity-threatening.

nielle by Wavvy is a noninvasive, energy-based platform built to help you keep your hair — and your mojo. No surgery. No chemicals. No fear-mongering. Just better conditions for your body to do what it already knows how to do. (nielle, pronounced nee-EL, is under development and is not commercially available)

(The waves in our name? Real frequencies. The founder’s hair? A little personal proof that waves get attention.)

Why we're doing this

Your hair has a job. We help it keep showing up for work.

Stick with us for thirty seconds of biology — then we'll get to what you can actually do about it.

Illustration of wavy hair flowing into coral and teal frequency waves — Wavvy's take on hair as the body's natural climate control

A quick, true tangent

Your hair is basically a swamp cooler.

It evolved as built-in climate control for the hardest-working organ you own. Your brain runs hot; hair helped manage the heat. Somewhere along the way it also became how we recognize ourselves in the mirror. So when it thins, it’s not really the strands you miss. It’s the you.

Call it the powers in your ponytail.

(Thicker hair trends colder, Nordic climates; the story starts somewhere hot. Biology is a great storyteller.)

It's not vanity. It's identity.

We won't tell you something's wrong with you. Nothing is. But if this is something you'd like to take control of — you can. That's the whole offer.

WTF!: What The Follicle!

Around 50 million men and 30 million women in the U.S. are dealing with hair thinning and loss — and modern life keeps adding new reasons for the fallout. The drains are clogged. The brushes are full. You are extremely not alone.

Are you a stacker?

Serum. Supplement. Treatment. Gadget. Repeat. Hair panic makes people try everything at once — then wonder what, if anything, worked. We would rather do one thing well, make consistency easier, and track the progress.

For every kind of hair

No hair story left behind.

Hair doesn't thin in one neat little category. It shows up differently across textures, stages of life, hormones, stress, styling history, and scalp health. The genetics that set the stage plus life's plot twists. So nielle™ is being designed to think bigger from the beginning. Coils, curls, waves, fine strands, fragile edges, postpartum shedding — these are different stories, and we're designing with all of them in the room from the start, not just the ones the industry usually pictures.

What we're building

A noninvasive, energy-based platform — starting with hair.

We are developing a poly-therapeutic platform designed to operate at the cellular level. We're patent pending, so we'll keep some cards close — but here's the honest shape of it.

Noninvasive, energy-based

Photonic (light) energy and pulsed electromagnetic fields — designed to work with your body and mind's natural processes, not override them.

Better conditions, not brute force

We focus on the scalp environment — circulation, cellular activity, tissue condition — so biology can do its job. Less force, less friction.

Protocol intelligence

Software-guided protocols keep the experience consistent. Think of it as the gym for your scalp: results come from showing up, not from one heroic session.

Built for pros first

Designed for professional environments — salons, med spas, wellness and bio-optimization centers — where trust, consistency, and client experience matter.

(Poly-therapeutic? That is just a fancy way of saying we are designing for more than one pathway — we have big plans.)

Patent pending. Currently in pre-FDA development. No medical claims — just a new way to support the conditions your body needs to respond.

Meet nielle™ · our first platform

nielle: where the idea becomes real.

nielle™ — Wavvy's first platform, supporting hair restoration and scalp wellness through noninvasive, energy-based modalities. It's the foundation of a bigger vision: what's possible when technology is designed to align with biology instead of fighting it.

Concept render of nielle — a translucent dome treatment device on a pedestal stand, marked with an abstract swan emblem, in a softly blurred modern salon
Concept render. Final hardware in development — we’ll show real units as pilots roll out.

Fun fact: we nicknamed our first prototypes the ugly ducklings. So when this one grew up, SWAN was the name that fit. But it’s taken. So Cortney named it nielle (a combo of her kid’s names and the nifty acronym: NonInvasive Energy for Life, Longevity, and Expression.) But we are definitely keeping the symbol. Swan lives.

  • Poly-therapeutic

Multiple energy-based approaches working together, not a single trick.

  • Protocol-driven

Consistent, software-guided sessions tailored to the individual.

  • Placed, not sold

nielle™ is designed to give partners access without a major upfront equipment purchase. Lower barrier. Aligned incentives. More room to make the chair earn its keep.

  • Toward regulated pathways

Designed with regulatory standards in mind as we grow.

Questions, answered

The science, demystified (and de-jargoned).

No white coats required. Straight answers about hair, energy, and what we can — and can't — promise.

We’re not forcing a result — we’re changing the probability your body can respond.
Barry Thornton · Chief Scientist, answering below

Wavvy Technologies is developing nielle™, a noninvasive, energy-based therapeutic platform for hair restoration and retention. It is patent pending. The platform is designed to create better conditions at the cellular level — no surgery, no chemicals, no unwanted side effects.

It certainly feels that way. We hear new stories every day, from men and women alike.

We already know hair thinning and loss affects an estimated 80 million Americans — and the conversation appears to be getting louder.

Genetics still matter. So do hormones, stress, aging, postpartum shifts, inflammation, and overall health. But modern life keeps adding new variables that are harder to predict.

That is why nielle™ is being built as a platform — designed to keep learning, apply new insight at the individual level, and support each person's unique starting point.

Energy-based modalities such as photonic (light) energy and pulsed electromagnetic fields are designed to support the body's own processes rather than force an outcome. The aim is to improve the scalp environment — circulation, cellular activity, and tissue condition — so the body can do its job.

No — and we will not dress uncertainty up as a promise.

Hair is personal. Biology is complex. Results vary. Our goal is to create better conditions for the body to respond, make the protocol easy to follow, and track progress over time.

Think of it like the gym for your scalp. Consistency matters.

No medical claims. nielle™ is currently in pre-FDA development and evaluation, and is being introduced through professional pilot partners as we continue to study the platform and move toward the appropriate regulatory pathway.

Two pilot partners are live in Austin, TX with more planned.

Wavvy Technologies is being built for professional partners, not bathroom counters.

Our plan is to work with salons, med spas, wellness centers, and bio-optimization or regenerative-health practices so clients can access nielle™ in trusted, trained environments.

For partners, it creates a new service opportunity with a lower barrier to entry. For clients, it creates access to a non-invasive, energy-based scalp wellness experience for people navigating hair thinning, shedding, and changes in how their hair looks and feels.

How we think about proof

We'd rather be honest than overpromise.

For the skeptics in the room (we love you): here's exactly where we stand on evidence, said plainly.

Standing on real science, making no false leaps

Our thinking draws on a broad, decades-deep body of published research into photonic (light) energy and pulsed electromagnetic fields. That research is real, and it's a big part of why we're excited to build. What it does not do is prove that our particular platform works, and we won't pretend it does. There's a difference between standing on the shoulders of a field and claiming the field has already vouched for you. We're standing. We haven't been vouched for yet, and we'll tell you the day that changes.

You'd be an early adopter, not a buyer of settled results

If you come along now, you'd be an early adopter of something new, not a customer purchasing a settled outcome. That's the honest deal, and we think it's a good one. We'd rather you walk in clear-eyed than oversold. Patent pending. Offered as a wellness experience. Wavvy does not make medical claims, and these statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.

Cortney Carpenter, Founder & CEO of Wavvy Technologies

Founder & CEO

Cortney Carpenter

“For me, this keeps coming back to dignity. When people feel equipped to show up as the best version of themselves, there is a vitality that follows. That is what we are really here to restore.”

Fun fact: Cortney writes poetry, thinks in pictures, and has been known to turn a product strategy conversation into a pontification on dignity, identity, swans, and why curvy hardware can be oddly alluring.

The founder

Hi, I'm Cortney. I started Wavvy because dignity shouldn't be a luxury item.

I'm not an engineer. I'm the person who kept noticing how much hair carries — confidence, identity, the way you walk into a room — and how few of the options for losing it feel anything but clinical, awkward, cumbersome, or out of reach. So I set out to build the thing I wished existed and surrounded myself with people who know the science cold to make it real. This is a startup. We're early, we're honest about that, and we'd genuinely love your company for the ride.

Why Wavvy, why now?

Hair loss isn't life-threatening. It's identity-threatening — and once I saw that clearly, I couldn't unsee it. Well, this non-engineer did spend 25 years working in high tech, fascinated by what technology makes possible — especially when it moves out of the weeds and into people's real lives. That may be why I never lose sight of the human at the end of all this science. It is about better life — more vitality, more presence, and more capacity to participate fully in your own story. And nielle™ is not just for the person in the chair. It is for the partners beside them — the salons, med spas, wellness centers, and high-trust providers working to meet a changing world with better tools. We want to help give those partners a fighting chance to thrive with science-forward technology that may not have been within reach before. We are on a mission together: helping clients live better, helping providers grow stronger, and making regenerative wellness more accessible, human, and beautifully possible. So yes, Wavvy is building technology. But the deeper work is regenerative: restoring confidence, dignity, and the conditions for people to live better from the inside out. Energy-based wellness has grown up enough that a noninvasive, science-forward experience can live in the kinds of places people already trust and enjoy. The moment and the mission lined up. So here we are.

  • Founder-led by someone who feels the stakes personally, not just the spec sheet
  • Noninvasive and energy-based, designed as a science-forward wellness experience today — with evidence, rigor, and regulatory discipline guiding what comes next

How we're building it

I call our early prototypes the ducklings — because Wavvy is, at heart, an ugly-duckling-to-swan story, and I'm sentimental about the ones that got us here. My job isn't to be the smartest person in the room. It's to find those people, ask relentless questions, and keep us pointed at the human why. We're building Wavvy with scientists, advisors, operators, partners, and providers who know things I don't — and who care enough to build something honest. We talk in probabilities, not promises. We say less when we're not sure. We stay curious. We stay human. And we are building this in the open, one thoughtful step at a time — patent pending, dignity as the whole point.

  • Bringing together people who know the science cold, then giving their brilliance a useful home
  • The "ducklings" — our prototype siblings on the road from duckling to swan
  • Built in the open: honest about being early, obsessive about the why

Barry Thornton, Chief Scientist at Wavvy Technologies

Chief Scientist

Barry Thornton

Fun fact: Barry is delighted by the idea that, through probability and energy, apparent nothingness can become something — which feels suspiciously relevant to both quantum physics and startups.

The Science behind nielle™

Resident pattern-finder. Professional asker of “but what’s underneath that?”

Barry is Wavvy's Chief Scientist, resident pattern-finder, and professional asker of "but what's underneath that?"

His brain does not do neutral. Barry is driven by what he doesn't know yet — the unanswered question, the hidden mechanism, the layer beneath the layer beneath the layer. He began with chemistry, followed the atoms into physics, wandered into electronics, and eventually made himself quite comfortable in the strange, counterintuitive terrain of quantum thought. Cognitive dissonance does not scare him. It entertains him.

At Wavvy, Barry brings the scientific depth behind nielle™: a lifelong fascination with energy, biology, consciousness, and the conditions that allow life to persist, adapt, and thrive. His work is rooted in a simple but enormous idea: life is worth studying because life is the whole show.

He is not here for polish for polish's sake. He is here for the real mechanism, the honest unknown, the elegant explanation, and the occasional sentence that makes everyone else in the room stop blinking for a second.

Quite the Match.

Cortney sees the human stakes. Barry sees the mechanisms underneath them.

She keeps Wavvy pointed toward dignity, vitality, the person sitting in the chair and the professionals standing next to them. He keeps asking what is happening at the deepest level — in the energy, the biology, the system, the signal. One brings the poetry of the "why." The other brings the physics of the "how."

Together, they are building Wavvy the only way it could be built: with heart, rigor, curiosity, and just enough beautiful weirdness to make something new become possible.

What a session is

Think gym membership, not magic wand.

A wellness session with Wavvy is short, calm, and refreshingly low-drama. You book it at one of our partner locations, settle in for a little while, and head back to your day. No surgery, no needles, nothing to recover from. The whole thing is designed to fit into a real life, because the magic isn't in any one visit. It's in showing up.

The gym for your scalp

Here's the honest shape of it: this is a rhythm, not a one-time fix. The same way one trip to the gym doesn't hand you abs, one session isn't the whole story. It's a recurring wellness experience you return to on a steady cadence, because consistency beats heroics every time. You come in, you relax, you let the experience be the experience, and you come back. Over time, the showing-up is the point. We think in probabilities, not promises: the idea is to keep supporting better conditions at the cellular level, and to keep showing up while your body does its thing. No white coats, no lectures, no being told something is wrong with you. Just a dignified, noninvasive, energy-based experience that treats your time and your mojo with respect.

  • A short, recurring wellness experience at a partner location
  • A rhythm you keep, not a single dramatic appointment
  • Noninvasive and energy-based: nothing to recover from
  • Consistency over intensity. The showing-up is the work.
